Continents and Oceans

Passage

Earth is divided into seven continents and five major oceans. The continents are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Asia is the largest in both area and population, while Australia is the smallest. The five oceans are the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, and Arctic. The Pacific Ocean is the largest and deepest, covering more area than all landmasses combined. Continents and oceans influence global climate, biodiversity, and human migration. For instance, the Sahara Desert in Africa affects weather patterns even beyond its region. Oceans regulate temperature and support marine ecosystems essential to life on Earth.
